Curing GERD and Acid Reflux: 8 Common cause of Acid Reflux and GERD

Approximately one billion people worldwide are not getting enough of the highly beneficial vitamin D. We can synthesize vitamin D through our skin from exposure to sunlight, and there are small amounts of it in some foods. However, many people are still finding it difficult to obtain adequate amounts, which is why healthcare professionals recommend we take supplements to meet our nutritional needs.

In Issue 171 of The Inside Tract® newsletter, we discussed the benefits of vitamin D and how they relate to individuals with gastrointestinal diseases and disorders. We explained that individuals who have difficulty absorbing dietary fat, such as those with Crohns disease or celiac disease, may have difficulty obtaining enough vitamin D because it is fat soluble. In addition, we talked about the reduced risk of colon cancer in individuals with adequate vitamin D intake.

Scary Signs You Have Vitamin D Deficiency

Wondering why you cant seem to shake that cold or stomach infection with medication? Chances are an underlying Vitamin D deficiency could be jeopardising your recovery.

Vitamin D is stored and synthesised in the body naturally, activated by the liver and kidney when exposed to the sun . Its key to maintaining calcium and phosphate levels in the body as well as keeping our immune system healthy.

Several factors have contributed to the rising incidence of Vitamin D deficiency. The main one being lack of proper exposure to sunlight because we dont spend enough time outdoors. Our sedentary lifestyle is another problem. Its found that people who are overweight/obese are more prone to Vitamin D deficiency. Since Vitamin D is a fat soluble compound , a high fat deposition in the body creates a greater demand for Vitamin D. Research has also shown people with dark skin pigmentation are more at risk as their skin colour blocks the suns ability to stimulate Vitamin D production. Genetic and other medical conditions such as liver and kidney disease can also cause a shortfall.

A Vitamin D deficiency isnt easy to diagnose, as it doesnt always cause symptoms until levels become very low or have been low for some time. But some of more alarming signs to watch out for include:

    • Do not take multivitamins right before exercise

The Link Between Vitamin And Heartburn

One study however shows that taking calcium supplements containing vitamin D can cause gastritis, especially when such supplements are taken in between meals. The symptoms of gastritis simulate that of rebound acid production, which feels like heartburn. But the incidence of this is very low.

    Pin on Acid Reflux

Common over-the-counter medications like antacids contain various salts intended to neutralize the pH of stomach acid. These salts are usually made out of calcium or magnesium carbonate or aluminum hydroxide. Vitamin D is essential for the absorption of calcium, so some specialty products have appeared on the alternative supplement market combining several vitamins and minerals including vitamin D and calcium to treat heartburn and acid reflux. One such product combines vitamin D, calcium, folic acid, vitamins B-6 and B-12. Never take a dietary supplement to treat your heartburn or acid reflux prior to discussing the medical implications with your physician.

How Much Of Vitamin D To Take

The suggested daily requirement of vitamin D for a healthy individual is 600 IU. However, in a circumstance in which nearly half of the adult US population is vitamin D deficient, it is essential to first bring back the vitamins levels back to sufficient. This must be done by vitamin D supplements.

A weekly dosage of 60,000 IU of vitamin D is recommended for around 3 months. After 3 months, it is recommended to obtain your vitamin D3 levels checked.

If they are adequate, you can continue either taking a lower dosed vitamin D supplement or eat foods rich in vitamin D to obtain sufficient quantities of the vitamin.

I Would Not Be At All Surprised If I Start To See More Clients Showing Symptoms Of A Functional Deficiency In Vitamin A In The Future

It is also important to note that there are areas of the population that cant convert the Beta Carotene they get from food into formed Vitamin A. This is particularly apparent in those with Type II Diabetes and Hypothyroidism.

    Vitamin E

Finally, Chandler Bing is Vitamin E.;He has bad habits like smoking and was more flawed than the others. He struggled to find a girlfriend for ages and had periods of self-destruction.

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant but can go awry if its single for too long and become a pro-oxidant. It bounds around, as my lecturer once said like a drunk friend on Tinder, desperately trying to find someone to pair up with and become more stable, if not it remains a free-radical causing mayhem. Monica saved him.

    Better together

Put the whole cast together, and the synergy is unbreakable. Try and separate them, make one more important than the other, and it will not work. Our body is precisely the same it has been fine-tuning this chemistry since time began.

    What can you do then?

There we have it, a cautionary tale of not mega-dosing on individual vitamins. This is just a small example of the implication of taking a reductionist approach to supplementation.

Yes, give the body what is missing.

Yes, take away what it doesnt need.

But always remember it knows better, it is continually working to restore homeostasis.

Large Vitamin D Pill Is Causing Heartburn

Q: My doctor prescribed 50,000 IU of vitamin D weekly because a blood test showed I am deficient. This pill gives me heartburn, and it seems like a big dose. Is there any reason I can’t take a smaller dose every day?

A: Doctors usually figure that the fewer pills you have to take, the more likely you are to get them down. But there is no reason you couldn’t take vitamin D on a daily basis.

Since you are deficient, you’ll need to be conscientious about taking your pill. A British study has shown that low vitamin D levels are associated with higher mortality and a greater chance of lung, heart or bone problems in the future .

Q: I am a healthy, 53-year-old man with high cholesterol. I take atorvastatin to keep it under control.

Soon after starting on this drug, I noticed that my erections were softer. Cialis solved that problem, and I have no difficulty with arousal, libido or erections. I do, however, have difficulty achieving orgasm. My girlfriend and I make love for an hour. She is very happy, but I am frustrated because I rarely achieve climax. Could my cholesterol drug be responsible?

A: There is nothing in the medical literature about statins causing anorgasmia, though other men also have reported an inability to climax. This complication does not appear to have been studied rigorously.

A: You have lots of company. Fingertips frequently crack or split in cold weather, though we don’t know exactly why.
