Diarrhea After Eating Eggs
If you’ve had episodes of diarrhea after consuming an egg-based dish, chances are the eggs weren’t cooked until the whites and yolks were firm. If those eggs were contaminated with the nasty Salmonella bacteria, you stood a good chance of contracting this dangerous infection. For very young children, the elderly and people with compromised immune systems, a Salmonella infection can be life-threatening.
If you’re a victim of Salmonella, symptoms usually begin to appear within six to 48 hours after consuming a tainted food. It’s common to experience many diarrhea episodes daily, with extreme cases possibly resulting in hospitalization. Besides diarrhea after eating eggs, Salmonella symptoms include abdominal cramps, fever and vomiting. Most people don’t require antibiotic treatment, and recover within four to seven days.
To decrease your chances of becoming infected with Salmonella, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that you buy only pasteurized eggs and egg-based products. Purchase the eggs only from stores that keep them in a refrigerated case, and refrigerate the eggs to 40 degrees Fahrenheit or colder at home. Always throw away dirty or cracked eggs. After handling the raw eggs, scrub all utensils, countertops and cutting boards with a healthy amount of soap and water.
Potential Risks Of Raw Eggs
Eating raw eggs can be potentially dangerous if they contain Salmonella. About one in 20,000 eggs does. Salmonella is a bacteria commonly found in food that causes diarrhea, fever, cramps, and vomiting.
In serious cases, you can develop chronic, severe, or life-threatening health problems from eating food-borne bacteria. Salmonella causes about 30 deaths in the United States each year. Youll usually experience illness 1 to 3 days after eating food contaminated with bacteria. However, you can get sick anywhere between 20 minutes and 6 weeks after you have it.
Usually, cooking eggs thoroughly will kill the bacteria. If you use a recipe that requires raw or undercooked eggs, make sure you only use eggs that have been treated to destroy Salmonella through pasteurization or pasteurized egg products.

Child Has Diarrhea After Eating Eggs
If you’ve searched online for “eggs diarrhea baby,” you’ll find that children can also experience diarrhea and other troublesome symptoms after consuming eggs or an egg-containing dish. If your child has a food allergy, even a very small quantity of eggs can cause a dramatic reaction.
According to the University of Rochester Medical Center, eggs are among the most common food allergy culprits. Although some children become less susceptible to food allergies as they grow older, there’s no guarantee the “eggs diarrhea baby” problem will disappear.
Although food allergy symptoms vary with each child, they’ll generally develop quickly, less than an hour after eating the offending food. Common food allergy indicators include hives, eczema, stomach pain or cramps, vomiting and nausea.
Watch for severe symptoms such as throat tightness or itching. You might also notice swelling or itching of the child’s mouth, tongue, lips or entire face. Asthma symptoms, such as wheezing and breathing difficulty, can also occur. Food allergies can trigger a life-threatening emergency, so please seek medical care without delay if necessary.

Eggs As A Cause Of Ibs
Irritable bowel syndrome is considered a milder food sensitivity compared to a food allergy, states Dr. Mark Hyman of the Cleveland Clinic. However, this digestive system and bowel malfunction comes with some very uncomfortable symptoms. If you’re affected by IBS, you’ll experience gas and bloating, diarrhea, stomach distention and cramps. And, you’ll probably make frequent trips to the bathroom after meals.
Although IBS can have varied origins, most episodes result from food allergies or small intestine bacterial overgrowth. Eggs are a known IBS trigger, along with a variety of other common foods. Dr. Hyman firmly believes that a targeted treatment plan, based on each patient’s specific situation, will provide the best outcome.

Filtered Or Distilled Water Only
The kidneys main function is to filter out the toxins in our bodies. Since tap water can be loaded with chemicals and contaminants it is best to only give your dog clean, filtered water to drink. If you have a dog living with kidney disease like we do, you may also want to eventually invest in a slow water feeder. Dogs with kidney disease can get quite thirsty and will actually start drinking water too fast which causes its own unique set of problems.

Reasons That Eggs Could Be The Cause
1. Egg intolerance
It it is possible that you get diarrhea after eating eggs because your body is intolerant to such. The reason for this would be a lack of an enzyme that is required to break down the eggs during digestion. Symptoms like low energy levels, headaches, joint pain and diarrhea could show up right away or it could be days later after consumption, which just makes it harder to pinpoint whether or not this is the problem.
The good news is that you can actually become tolerant to eggs if you suffer from intolerance. What you want to do is quit eating eggs for a while and then very slowly introduce them back into your diet.
2. Egg allergy
If you have an egg allergy then the proteins are to blame, and we all know that eggs are abundant in protein. Basically what is happening here is your body is reacting to the egg protein as if they are some threat. The immune system perceives them as unwanted harmful intruders and begins to mount an attack, although they pose no harm in the first place.
Side effects if you are allergic include things like rashes, runny nose, sneezing, difficulty breathing, diarrhea, and even possibly anaphylaxis. This can be a pretty serious condition depending on your level of allergy. Even the smallest contact with eggs could cause problems.
3. Eggs have zero fiber
4. Salmonella contamination
Getting diarrhea after eating eggs could also be due to bacterial contamination, such as that from the popular salmonella.
How Is It Treated
The most important thing to do is to rest the stomach and intestine. You can do this by not eating solid food for a while and drinking only clear liquids. As your symptoms go away, you can start eating soft bland foods that are easy to digest.
If you have been vomiting a lot, it is best to have only small, frequent sips of liquids. Drinking too much at once, even an ounce or two, may cause more vomiting.
Your choice of liquids is important. If water is the only liquid you can drink without vomiting, that is OK. However, if you have been vomiting often or for a long time, you must replace the minerals, sodium and potassium, that are lost when you vomit. Ask your healthcare provider what sport drinks or other rehydration drinks could help you replace these minerals.
Other clear liquids you can drink are weak tea and apple juice. You may also drink soft drinks without caffeine after letting them go flat . It may be easier to keep down liquids that are cold. Avoid liquids that are acidic or caffeinated or have a lot of carbonation. Do not drink milk until you no longer have diarrhea.
Sometimes treatment includes prescription medicine to prevent nausea and vomiting or diarrhea.
Nonprescription medicine is available for the treatment of diarrhea and can be very effective. If you use it, make sure you use only the dose recommended on the package. If you have chronic health problems, always check with your healthcare provider before you use any medicine for diarrhea.

Can Eggs Upset Your Stomach
If your stomach goes on a painful rollercoaster ride after eating a tasty egg dish, you might be having an allergic reaction to the egg’s proteins. Simply put, your body thinks the proteins are unwelcome invaders, and dispatches chemicals to stop them. Those well-meaning chemicals trigger an allergic reaction, in this case stomach pains. The maddening eggs and diarrhea allergy connection might also reappear.
Severe reactions can even include anaphylaxis, a life-threatening emergency that affects your breathing and can even trigger shock. If you think you’re having a severe reaction to eggs , seek medical attention immediately.
To determine if an egg allergy is the culprit, schedule an appointment with an allergy specialist. During your first visit, he will perform a blood test or a skin-prick test, which will hopefully provide some answers. If not, they’ll schedule an oral food test, in which you eat a few bites of egg under medical supervision. If you have a negative reaction, medical personnel will be right there to handle it.
