  • It helps to strengthen the digestive system and helps in stimulating appetite as well.
  • In 100 grams of ginger, 14.1 grams of it is soluble dietary fiber, which easily dissolves in the water which turns into a gel and helps in softening of the stools and promotes in the easier movement of the stools through the colon.

It was observed that after 28 days, the people who had been given 2 grams had shown 46.7% significant reduction in their symptoms and patients with one gram had shown 33.3% reduction in their symptoms and this was measured using the IBS severity scale . What To Know About Using Ginger For Nausea And Diarrhea

Pure ginger is rich in a variety of beneficial plant chemicals called phytochemicals that make it an effective home remedy for diarrhea, nausea and stomach aches. It is a natural source of anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antitumor and anti-ulcer effects, and it is unlikely to cause any serious side effects.

Allergies are possible, though, so check with your doctor before beginning any treatment.

Ginger has the ability to alter muscle spasms in the lower digestive tract, which is thought to help the body flush out sources of diarrhea and promote wellness. This is also why ginger is thought to relieve other gastrointestinal problems like food poisoning.

Even without this modern medical knowledge, however, ancient peoples have known ginger to settle stomachs for thousands of years, and the history of its use in Eastern cultures is well known.

What To Eat Drink And Do To Relieve Constipation

Come clean. It’s not potty talk to acknowledge your difficulty going.

Maybe you don’t poop for days at a time — when you used to go regularly every day — or when you do go, your stool is hard, dry and small, which can make going a strain and perhaps painful. Constipation is defined in different ways, just as individual experiences vary, but it often involves both these uncomfortable stool changes and less frequent bowel movements. Ultimately, you know your “regular.” So if you haven’t been feeling at your colonic best, experts say, take heed to find relief.

    Consider medical and medication-related causes.

If the problem persists, see your doctor. Though frequently the cause of constipation isn’t known, some medical conditions and medications can make it difficult to go. These range from neurologic conditions like Parkinson’s disease that can also affect bowel function to severe depression as well as some drugs used to treat everything from depression to high blood pressure to allergies, explains Dr. Eamonn Quigley, section chief of gastroenterology at Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston. Talk to your doctor about treating underlying health issues, or whether it’s safe to switch or stop taking medications that cause constipation.

Exercise: To get things moving, get moving.

Fiber is still king and queen of the throne.

    Stay properly hydrated.

Dried plums — aka prunes — are still the dietary standard in regularity.

    Dinner and a supplement

    Be strategic about caffeine.

    Side Effects Of Ginger Capsules

The major problem with ginger supplements is their tendency to interact with prescription medications. Most of their side effects are similar to that of raw ginger.

Ginger was found to have anti-diabetic properties. If taken along with anti-diabetes medications, ginger can lower blood sugar levels way too much .

Ginger has been closely related to turmeric for its therapeutic properties. However, turmeric too may have side effects, if taken in excess amounts. Turmeric may interact with certain medications. These include cardiovascular drugs, antibiotics, anticoagulants, chemotherapy drugs, and anti-histamines . Though research is limited to conclude the medical interactions of yellow ginger, it is important to exercise caution.

    Ginger for Constipation

Though ginger ale may be tasty, when suffering from a stomachache you’re better off opting for the genuine article, explains Dr. Vaidya. “Instead of the beverage aisle, I recommend visiting your grocery store’s produce section and picking up some fresh ginger root.”

Simply add peeled slices to hot tea or plain hot water. And if you’re not comfortable handling the raw ingredient, try ground ginger instead.

And remember: Overtaxing your stomach, even with a good thing, will only lead to more distress. A little ginger tea goes a long way, so don’t overdo it. “Drinking small amounts throughout the day is far better than drinking multiple cups in one sitting,” says Dr. Vaidya.
