What Is Creatine Bloating
Creatine bloating is a common reported side effect from taking creatine supplements. Bloating can cause an unpleasant feeling for people suffering from it.
Aside from the muscles, creatine bloating can extend to the gastrointestinal tract as intestinal bloating. Numerous individuals have reported the unpleasant feeling of gas in their stomach due to creatine consumption.
This phenomenon can be highly attributed to the ability of creatine to increase water retention. Water retention is the ability of the body to hold or accumulate water.
A 2003 paper published in the Journal of Athletic Training looked at sixteen men and divided them into two groups: the treatment group and the placebo group. The study clearly found that total body water was significantly increased in the group taking creatine.
Studies suggest that the increase of water retention is because creatine increases metabolic activity in the muscles, therefore the body sends more water to the muscles.
Furthermore, the chemical structure of creatine when mixed with water causes a hydration shell, causing a molecule of creatine to be surrounded by a cluster of water molecules.
While creatine bloating is among the more common side effects being reported, many creatine users also report to never have experienced creatine bloating or any other kind of side effects.

If you’re doing a loading cycle right now, you don’t need to for creatine to be effective.

Maybe you should stop wasting your parents money or your money on supplements and start eating actual food.Better yet, maybe read a nutrition book and learn how the body works instead of being absorbed by supplement companies’ marketing plan. Then maybe you will not feel so bloated, just maybe.

How Long Does Alcohol Bloating Last
Usually asked question is how long does alcohol bloating last?
The appearance of bloating in the stomach starts from consuming alcohol. Alcohol bloating last depending on the type of gastritis one has. Gastritis occurs from too much consumption of alcohol. Does Supplimenting Creatine Cause Belly Fat To Increace Or Stomach To Bloat
I have been taking 2-3gm of creatine per day mixed extremely well with 16-17oz lukewarm water, that too on workout days for at least 2.5 months now. However, I feel that the paunch/belly fat I had, as mentioned in this post of mine, has increased considerably. Now, if I start taking whey protein, would the cons overweigh the pros significantly?
Edit: I linked a wrong thread instead of the one I intended to, earlier. The correction has been made.

To answer the valid question here:
Can You Lose Weight While Taking Creatine
If youre trying to lose weight either to reduce your body fat percentages or because you just got done doing a bulking cycle and now you want more definition, creatine is your go-to supplement to help with both.
You never want to lose lean muscle mass, and no matter why youre trying to lose weight it can only be done by putting yourself on a calorie deficit which will threaten your lean muscle because your body will be looking for ways to make up for the loss of energy.
Creatine in this situation will help prevent muscle loss and give you more energy to lift and work out longer, burning more calories and losing a higher percentage of fat.

Does Creatine Make You Fat
The answer to this is a definitive NO.
This is where misconceptions and lousy advice comes into play, you will gain weight while on creatine, but it is not from extra body fat.
Its either from your muscles pulling in and holding onto water or its from you building muscle, which is precisely what you want.
Both of these scenarios will increase the number you see on the scale.
I cant tell you how many times I hear someone say creatine is making them fat, and once I start to probe and figure outheir daily habits, it becomeses clear that they have a horrible diet, but feel better blaming creatine.
If you follow a healthy nutrition and fitness plan, you will not see any extra fat on your body from creatine supplementation.

The older, wiser, less-bendy sister of yoga, meditation is an amazing activity that people can reap major rewards from. A 2014 study in Eating Behaviorsfound that individuals who meditate are less likely to overeat or give in to emotional eatingand this is key if you want to stay on track with your anti-bloat plan over the next day. To get started, unroll a yoga mat or sit on a carpet in a sunny room and take five uninterrupted minutes thinking about something that you’re grateful for.
Avoid Bloat Inducing Foods
Sometimes, bloating might not have anything to do with creatine. If youre experiencing bloating, along with all these other steps, you should be taking a look at your diet.
Are you eating lots of junk/fast food? Are you eating too many carbs? Are you not eating enough vegetables?
All of these things and more could cause bloating even without creatine. So, pay attention to your diet, and look out for patterns, and you can find if a specific food contributes to makes you bloated, instead of creatine itself.

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth
In SIBO, the normally depopulated small intestine is overrun with bacteria. More gut bacteria should be awesome, right? Not in the small intestine. SIBO is characterized by a reduction in lactase and poor absorption of sorbitol and fructose . This allows all three short-chain carbs to pass through to the colon for unwanted fermentation and gas production.
Who Knew Dehydration Would Trigger Your Bloat
Dehydration forces your body to retain water and swell. And its a common phenomenon. In fact, it is estimated that 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. Whats worse is that sometimes getting rid of excess water can be more difficult than releasing gas. Dehydration can even cause your face to bloat. No, thank you!

What Is Creatine Where Does It Come From
The first point that needs to be made is that creatine is not a steroid. In fact, it is a completely different chemical compound that is not at all related to hormones.
Scientists discovered creatine in the early 1800s. They found that creatine was an important component in the muscles of most mammals and named the discovery after the Greek work for flesh, Kreas.
In particular, they were studying animal physiology and discovered that a wild fox contains 10 times more creatine in its muscles than a fox in captivity. This increase was thought to be a byproduct of the higher exercise level of the wild fox compared to its sedentary counterpart. Future research confirmed these conclusions, and now creatine is one of the most popular sports supplements on the market.
Creatine is produced naturally in your body, primarily the liver, from the precursor amino acids arginine, glycine, and methionine.
Even though creatine is made of amino acids, its not considered a protein because its metabolized differently. Unlike proteins, when creatine is broken down, it doesnt involve the removal of nitrogen when excreted from the body by the kidneys.
The concern that creatine may harm your kidneys because of increased nitrogen removal is unwarranted.
Since your body has the ability to produce creatine, its technically not considered an essential dietary nutrient, but supplementation does prove useful for those interested in increased strength and muscle growth.

Creatine And Water Retention Or Bloat
The reason creatine supplements sometimes cause water retention is because creatine is osmotic.
In other words, when you increase your bodys creatine levels, the creatine can pull in extra water along with it.
And research shows that creatine supplementation increases intracellular and extracellular water that is to say, water levels inside as well as outside of your cells rise.
Storing more water inside cells could have a favorable effect on your appearance by making you look more muscular or at least bigger. Conversely, extracellular water could lead to minor bloating effects that visually resemble fat gain.
Also, you may have heard from fitness gurus that creatine supplements dont cause bloating, but thats incorrect.
Most studies on the subject show that creatine can increase overall water retention, and at least one study showed an increase in extracellular water but not intracellular water.
Bottom line: creatine sometimes, but not always, causes water weight gain, which can either make you look more muscular, more bloated, or both. It varies depending on the individual.

Why Is This The Recommended Dosing Strategy
Over a decade ago, researchers first documented what is known today as creatine loading, the most effective strategy for increasing muscle creatine stores by ingesting creatine monohydrate1. They found that a five-gram dose of creatine significantly elevated blood creatine concentrations, peaking about one hour after ingestion and returning to baseline levels after 23 hours.
In order to keep creatine elevated throughout the day, a five-gram dosing regimen every two hours for eight hours was adopted. Maintaining this creatine dosing protocol for at least two days resulted in significant increases in the total muscle creatine content .
Since then, subsequent studies have confirmed what those researchers first established: this creatine dosing strategy is effective at increasing muscle creatine stores. However, it’s not always necessary to dose this high or for a long period of time. Most of the creatine uptake occurs within the first two days, and muscle eventually becomes saturated with creatine in less than seven days at 2025 grams per day.
You could also just eat more foods naturally rich in creatine, such as beef, salmon, herring, or pork. However, to get 5 grams of creatine each day would require about one kilogram of meat or fish . Unless you can stomach that much red meat or fish per day, the only way you’re going to be able to get the recommended dose of creatine is with creatine monohydrate.
Remedies And Treatments For Bloated Stomachs
While stomach bloating will often resolve on its own, the following measures may help reduce bloating or address its underlying causes:
Exercise and Posture
Physical exercise can help reduce bloating and clear gas from the body. Posture adjustment can also help. The body retains more gas when you are lying on your back, so try to stay active throughout the day.
Both simethicone and activated charcoal are marketed as gas-reducers. The two have proven ineffective and/or inconsistent when used on their own in clinical trials. However, there is some evidence to suggest that they may work when combined or when used with magnesium oxide or loperamide .
The use of probiotics to help with digestive issues is common but little studied. Still, there is some evidence that using probiotics can help reduce stomach bloating. The formula in VSL#3 proved to reduce bloating in both adults and children in clinical studies.
One common cause of stomach bloating is the inability to digest certain foods. Most digestive enzyme supplements are effective only for people who cannot produce enzymes for medical reasons. However, over-the-counter enzymes have proven to help with the digestion of two commonly problematic foods: dairy and legumes .
If you have a hard time digesting the sugars in these foods, you might benefit from lactase supplements for dairy or alpha-galactosidase supplements for legumes.
