An Ap Course Is Not Required To Take An Ap Exam
To register for an IB exam, a student must be enrolled in and complete an IB course. Students who want to take an AP exam, on the other hand, are not required to complete the AP course associated with that test.
That said, most schools do not advise students to take an AP exam without enrolling in the corresponding AP course. The AP course is designed to prepare students to do well on the exam.

May 2020 Examination Results
In March 2020, the IB announced that exams for the May 2020 session had been canceled as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It claimed that the final grades would instead be calculated based on course work, students’ teacher-predicted grades, and historic school data. “Prior to the attribution of final grades, this process was subjected to rigorous testing by educational statistical specialists to ensure our methods were robust. It was also checked against the last five years sets of results data,” an IB spokesman said. In July 2020, the IB released its results for Diploma Programme and Career-related Programme candidates enrolled in the May 2020 session. Over 17,000 signatories signed an online petition calling for a clarification of the grading methodology, and for free remarking and retesting. Several educators have criticized IB’s approach to the 2020 grading.The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation stated it would “scrutinize” the grades. The Norwegian Data Protection Authority asked the IB to provide data under the General Data Protection Regulation.
Some argued that using a school’s historical data to produce grades was unfair to black or low-income students, or students from smaller schools. Others complained about the lack of transparency and fair process of the grades’ appeal process.

How Are Ap Courses Scored
AP exams are scored on a scale of one to five. That is, one means failure and five means extremely well qualified. Most colleges require the student to receive a score of at least three to four. When the high school registers with college, their AP test scores will be used to exempt them from taking applicable prerequisite classes. Finally, approximately 30 percent of college scholarships use AP course scores. All AP courses are created and offered through the College Board.

Why Should You Take Ib Classes Or Pursue An Ib Diploma
On top of the opportunity for college credit, I truly think the IB program is the best preparation for collegeeven better than the community college classes I took in a dual enrollment program. IB prepares students to think globally and write about a variety of topics. I really believe in the IB program.
It provides students with more creative opportunities than do AP classes. Students are allowed to choose topics for their reports and are not typically assigned a specific area to research.
For example, I am very passionate about film and theatre. I got to explore that passion through my Extended Essay, and I also got to explore it in my oral presentation for my Spanish B class, in which I talked about Pedro Almodovar and Spanish cinema.
Also, I am very interested in my family history. As I mentioned. I wrote a report on Allied prisoners of war in Europe in WWII for my IB history class. My own grandfather was a prisoner of war. I got to track down details of his experiences and include it in my report.
Overall, IB is a fantastic program for students who love to read and learn about the world. It truly allows students to pursue their biggest interests and identify their passions.

May 2021 Examination Session
In August 2020, amidst the continuing coronavirus pandemic, the IB announced a series of comprehensive amendments to its scheduled examinations in May 2021.
