Neurology | Brachial Plexus

This product contains a number of ingredients that are said to boost weight loss, but no solid research has yet proven their effectiveness.

Yerba Maté Leaf: This South American herb contains a variety of antioxidants. Studies have found that it may promote fat burning and increase metabolism, but there isnt a lot of evidence of this in humans .

Higenamine Hydrochloride: This has been used as a supposed fat burner, but there has been no research on it with humans.

Green Tea Leaf Extract: This has shown to promote a small amount of weight loss, and its caffeine content may slightly improve metabolism in the short term .

Hordenine Hydrochloride : This supplement may boost metabolism by increasing heart rate and breathing rate. However, research related to this is very limited.

5-HTP: Similarly, a small amount of research suggests that 5-HTP may increase feelings of fullness when taken in a spray form .

Hawthorn Berry Extract: While this is high in antioxidants, theres no evidence that it boosts metabolism or fat burning .

The B vitamins in this supplement may also have a small impact on metabolism, but only for those who have a low intake of these nutrients already. This is unlikely to make a difference for those who eat a varied diet.

Is Plexus Worth It

In case this Plexus review hasnt convinced you, Plexus is about the same as every other nutrition MLM out there: Supplements with ingredients that are either not proven to do anything or, if they are, not in the concentrations that the products contain.

Always remember: If it worked, everyone would be at their ideal weight.

Cleansing does nothing. Carb blockers arent as effective as everyone wants them to be. Stimulants hop you up but dont burn enough calories to be effective. There are a couple of possibly-effective ingredients in there, but we dont know in what amounts.

Plexus is also super expensive.

Verdict:

Does Plexus Lean Work

No specific studies have tested whether Plexus Lean actually works.

Similar meal replacement supplements have shown to reduce calorie intake and promote weight loss .

However, the evidence for these isnt strong for studies that have lasted up to a year or longer .

In terms of nutrition, a serving of Plexus Lean is low in calories and carbohydrates and high in protein and fiber .

It also contains a moderate amount of sugar , fat , saturated fat and a range of vitamins and minerals.

The high protein and fiber content may increase feelings of fullness .

The claims about promoting muscle growth may be justified, as the protein and leucine it contains have been found to play a key role in this process .

Its prebiotics can also help populate the gut with healthy bacteria .

However, all of these nutrients can easily be found in a healthy balanced diet without the need for a supplement like this.

Integrative Approaches To Reduce Ibs Symptoms

Irritable bowel syndrome , a gastrointestinal condition that involves abdominal pain and altered bowel habits , affects over 10% of Americans. Though some find the condition merely a nuisance, for many individuals it can be quite bothersome and disruptive. While medications can sometimes offer relief, some individuals do not respond to medications or find the side effects intolerable. Fortunately, there are several well-studied, nondrug, integrative approaches that can help to reduce IBS-related symptoms and restore a sense of control over ones life.

Why The Plexus Pink Drink May Not Be Safe

“Plexus Slim Hunger Control,” colloquially known as the “pink drink,” is the name of a supplement that’s marketed as an appetite suppressant for weight control. The drink comes in powdered form and is mixed with water, then consumed before two daily meals to help you reduce the desire to overeat.

But like many fad diet supplements that have come before it, Plexus pink drink is another quick fix that doesn’t work in the long term to help with weight control. That’s because it does not teach people how to build a sustainable, healthy lifestyle that includes a balanced diet and physical activity. What’s also worrisome is that the product, like many dietary supplements, has not been clinically tested for efficacy, and has not been third-party tested to show that all of the ingredients are safe.

Which Fiber Supplement Is Best

Neurology | Lumbar Plexus

Metamucil has been shown to have more health benefits overall versus Benefiber. In addition to being a fiber supplement, Metamucil is a proven bulk-forming laxative. It also has been shown to reduce heart disease by reducing LDL cholesterol. Its effect on slowing digestion time helps maintain glycemic control and may aid in weight loss.

Take A Probiotic Supplement

Some people report that the use of probiotics has helped them with IBS. These “friendly” microorganism strains work to balance the bacteria within the gut. The strain with the most research support to date is Bifidobacterium infantis.

However, the American College of Gastroenterology recommends against the use of probiotics for IBS symptoms. This is primarily due to a lack of high-quality research on the subject. It also reflects the difficulty in determining the specific effects of different probiotic strains.

If you think probiotics might be right for you, be sure to discuss the pros and cons with your healthcare provider.

Safety Of Plexus Lean

No specific safety concerns have been raised in relation to Plexus Lean, though pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor first.

There are no guidelines to the amount of Plexus Lean to consume every day, but having too much may cause problems.

For example, if Plexus Lean was taken in place of 3 meals and 3 snacks everyday it would provide:

  • 1,035 kcal and 77g of carbohydrates: not enough to support an active lifestyle.
  • 90g of protein: more than the recommended amount for most people.
  • 32g of sugar: above the daily recommended limit.
  • More than the daily recommended intake of vitamin A, which can be risky, especially for pregnant women.
  • A high intake of iron, which can cause constipation, nausea or vomiting .

Using meal replacement supplements similar to this has also been linked with an increase in depression and binge eating .

Because this supplement contains oligosaccharide prebiotics, its also high in FODMAPs. This may cause unpleasant symptoms in those with IBS .

See this article for more information on the low-FODMAP diet and IBS.

Summary: Plexus Lean is a low-calorie meal replacement drink that is high in protein and fiber. It also contains a range of vitamins and minerals, prebiotics to support gut health, and leucine to promote muscle growth. No studies have examined how effective this product is, and evidence is mixed about whether meal replacements like this support long-term weight loss.

Is Metamucil Rated Better Than Miralax

Amazon is always a good place to start when examining reviews. Filled with honest customer feedback about any and every product imaginable, weeding through Amazon reviews can help you decide between using Metamucil or Miralax.

Miralax was reviewed positively on Amazon, amassing a total of 385 customer reviews and ranking 4.5 stars out of five for its overall rating. Customers with verified purchases praised Miralaxs ability to solve long-term stomach and intestinal issues like constipation and symptoms brought on by gastrointestinal disorders.

Alternatively, Metamucil received the same overall rank of 4.5 stars out of 5 and followed Miralax closely in the number of customer reviews at 339 for its Orange Smooth formula. Similarly to Miralax, customer reviews indicated that by daily use of Metamucil, straining during bowel movements was no longer occurring for them, and because of this, constipation was quickly curbed.

With this close tie based on solely Amazon reviews, Miralax pulls ahead, simply due to the number of customer reviews it accumulated. However, to truly decide on which product received a better rating, it is best to check out at least one more site where both products are sold.

Walmart carries both Metamucil and Miralax. Metamucil received over 350 customer reviews and a 4 out of 5-star rating. This was far more than Miralax, a product that accumulated only 78 customer reviews. However, Miralaxs overall star rating was 4.5 out of 5.

How To Treat Solar Plexus Pain

The treatment of your solar plexus pain will depend on its underlying cause.

When you first experience solar plexus pain, there are several home remedies that may work to relieve your discomfort. Here are some to try:

  • To treat pain, apply a heating pad to the area, or take a warm bath.
  • If theres swelling, apply cold packs to the area.
  • Rest and take a break from strenuous activity. Give yourself time to heal.
  • Take ibuprofen only if you know that youve pulled a muscle and are sure that ulcers or other digestive conditions arent involved. Ibuprofen can increase your risk for bleeding ulcers.
  • If you believe an upset stomach is the reason for the pain, eat a bland diet, like the BRAT diet.
  • Take antacids to help reduce stomach acid and soothe an upset stomach.
  • Try breathing exercises. These can also relax the nervous system and soothe anxiety.

If your symptoms persist or if you have an underlying condition, your doctor can provide more treatment options. Theyll first seek to treat the underlying condition, but they may offer solutions for pain management, too. This may include low doses of painkillers for a short period of time while you heal.

If your pain is persistent, your doctor may recommend a celiac plexus block. This is an injection of pain medication in the form of an anesthetic. It can relieve severe abdominal pain by blocking the nerves.

How To Get Rid Of Ibs

Heres how I got rid of my IBS for good and how you can get rid of IBS as well.

If you have irritable bowel syndrome or suspect you do, you know how awful it is.

I struggled with IBS-C for YEARS before my doctors and I finally determined thats what it was.

If you dont know, determining you have IBS basically means taking a bunch of tests that come back negative, even when you have the symptoms.

For the longest time doctors would tell me, Well you seem fine, just drink plenty of water!

And that was frustrating to say the least!

At first they thought I was allergic to milk I was 12 at the time.

So I stopped drinking milk and cut out most dairy for years, nothing really changed.

At age 16 they decided it was just acid reflux. So they put me on acid blockers for FOUR years!

I eventually overcame the acid reflux, but was still feeling awful.

At this point, I was almost 20 years old, in college, and my symptoms were only getting worse.

I was constantly constipated. The stool softeners I took every day only helped to a point.

Everything I ate made me sick to my stomach. I had a huge list of foods that I couldnt eat without getting sick, things like: dairy, wheat, tomatoes, onions and garlic, beans, red meat etc.

I had horrible migraines almost daily and no medication helped. Some foods would trigger my headaches and migraines, and sometimes they came out of nowhere.

I was bloated and unable to lose weight.

Thats when I turned my focus to gut health.

For How Long Should You Take Miralax For Constipation

Use Miralax OTC for constipation occasionally. Dont use MiraLAX on a daily basis for more than one or two weeks without medical permission. Miralax is not approved for long-term use in chronic constipation.

Use Miralax as needed to relieve occasional attacks of severe constipation. If you need a long-term alternative, a bulk-forming fiber laxative such as psyllium is a reasonable alternative. Learn more.

Is Miralax Or Metamucil More Effective For Constipation

Do I have IBS ? | Symptoms & Diagnosis | Irritable Bowel Syndrome

While both Metamucil and Miralax are designed to relieve constipation, they are both fundamentally different products. Metamucil is a fiber supplement that utilizes psyllium as its dietary fiber source. Miralax is an osmotic laxative, binding water to the stool for easier passage.

Metamucil, because it is a fiber supplement, has other purposes and health benefits than Miralax. For sufferers of chronic constipation, Metamucil is often the starting point. And if extra fiber doesnt work, then a laxative should come into effect.

Metamucil may not immediately relieve constipation, and in fact, its labeling suggests that for those new to taking Metamucil, to begin with, small doses.

Taking too much Metamucil at once can lead to these side effects:

  • Excess gas
  • Digestive issues

For immediate alleviation of constipation, take Miralax. Miralaxs singular purpose is constipation relief by binding water to stools. Miralax has hundreds of customer reviews to back its effectiveness in ending constipation while taking this product.

Regardless of which product you take for constipation, make sure that you consult with your doctor beforehand and follow the packaging instructions. Metamucil should be taken an hour before or after other medications. Both products should be consumed with plenty of water.

How Do The Plexus Weight Management Regimens Work

The pink drink is sold as a stand-alone product, but is also marketed in combination with other Plexus products. The ‘upsell’ is a great way for brand ambassadors to make more money. Some of the products that are sold in conjunction with the Plexus Slim Hunger Control pink drink include:

  • Plexus Slim Microbiome Activating: a drink powder that contains prebiotic fiber
  • Plexus Meta Burn: A supposed “fat burner”
  • Plexus Lean: a high-protein meal replacement shake for weight loss

It’s unknown if there’s a specific combination of products that work best together because it has not been clinically tested. Buying a combination pack of these products costs about $225 per month.

The Plexus pink drink powder alone costs about $100 per month. The packaging instructions suggest dissolving one sachet in 12-20 ounces of water and taking it twice daily before meals.

How Long Will I Need Treatment

IBS-C is chronic. Once youre diagnosed, youll likely deal with symptoms and need to treat it for the remainder of your life. An effective treatment plan eases symptoms, reduces the likelihood of flares, and helps you regain a sense of control over your day-to-day life.

If treatments for IBS-C are successful, you might only think about the condition from time to time. If treatments arent effective, you may find that you think about what you eat, how you feel, and what you can do to feel better entirely too much.

Unlike treatment for IBS-C, treatment for CIC may not be ongoing. CIC is recurring constipation. Periods of constipation may last for several weeks or months. After that time, symptoms stop, and your bowel movements could return to normal. Treatment may only be necessary when youre experiencing constipation or difficulty having a bowel movement.
